Torc Robotics is a leader in autonomous vehicle technology, founded in 2005 by Virginia Tech students. Based in Blacksburg, Virginia, the company focuses on advancing Level 4 self-driving systems, particularly for heavy-duty trucks and freight transportation. Torc develops a complete autonomous vehicle software stack and hardware integration tailored for commercial trucking, aiming to enhance safety, efficiency, and accessibility in goods transport. The company utilizes advanced AI, sensor fusion, and real-time data processing to create reliable and cost-effective self-driving trucks. In addition to trucking, Torc offers autonomous solutions for safety-critical environments such as defense, mining, and agriculture, retrofitting various vehicles with their self-driving technology. Acquired by Daimler in 2019, Torc operates multiple facilities across North America, including engineering offices in Austin, Texas, and Montreal, Canada, as well as a fleet operations center in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas.
