Monarch

Monarch is a trauma-informed organization founded in 1958, originally known as the Arc of Stanly County, Inc. It provides comprehensive support and care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), mental illness, substance use disorders, and traumatic brain injuries throughout North Carolina. As one of the largest specialty mental health and human services providers in the state, Monarch serves over 28,800 individuals across 97 counties. The organization’s mission focuses on promoting wellness and empowering individuals and families affected by mental health challenges. Monarch offers a wide range of services, including outpatient, community-based, residential, and day programs tailored to meet the needs of those with behavioral and mental health concerns. A notable program is the “Understanding Addiction and Developmental Disabilities” curriculum, which provides resources to support recovery for individuals with co-occurring conditions. With approximately 1,400 staff members and annual revenues around $205.5 million, Monarch demonstrates a strong capacity to deliver extensive services statewide.
