The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) is a non-profit organization founded in 1983 and based in Washington, D.C. It operates globally to strengthen democracy through private enterprise and market-oriented reforms. CIPE's mission connects economic freedom with political freedom, emphasizing the importance of a strong private sector supported by democratic governance. CIPE engages in various initiatives, including policy advocacy to promote anti-corruption measures and trade simplification, as well as capacity building for business associations and civil society groups. The organization also focuses on women's economic empowerment by establishing resource centers and initiatives aimed at reducing gender-based economic disparities. CIPE has supported over 700 initiatives worldwide, partnering with local organizations in more than 80 developing countries to address socioeconomic challenges through business-led solutions.
