Boring Company

The Boring Company is an American infrastructure and tunnel construction firm founded by Elon Musk in 2016. Initially a subsidiary of SpaceX, it became independent in 2018. The company focuses on alleviating urban traffic congestion by creating underground transportation networks for high-speed travel beneath city streets. The Boring Company develops and constructs tunnels using its own tunneling machines. Its flagship product, the Loop system, features tunnels designed for autonomous electric vehicles, currently operating at speeds up to 40 mph, with future plans to reach 150 mph. The company has completed notable projects, including the Las Vegas Convention Center Loop, a 1.7-mile tunnel system with three stations. Expansion plans aim to extend the network to nearby resorts, totaling 68 miles of tunnels in Las Vegas. Leadership includes Steve Davis, who became President in 2019. The Boring Company is valued at approximately $6 to $7 billion and aims to develop the Hyperloop for intercity travel in the future.
