Big Bazaar, part of Future Retail, is one of India's largest retail chains, established in 2001 by Kishore Biyani. Headquartered in Mumbai, it has played a significant role in organized retail, focusing on value retailing for middle and lower-middle-class consumers. At its peak, Big Bazaar operated over 295 stores across more than 100 cities, becoming a well-known name in value shopping. The company offered a wide range of products, including groceries, apparel, household items, and electronics, all at competitive prices. Big Bazaar's business model emphasized customer satisfaction and convenience, featuring loyalty programs and festive sales events. Its extensive presence and focus on affordability helped build a loyal customer base. In 2022, many Big Bazaar stores were rebranded as Reliance Smart Bazaar Stores following an acquisition by Reliance Industries, marking a new chapter in its retail journey.
