Koppers Inc. is a global company founded in 1912 by Heinrich Koppers in Chicago, Illinois. The company initially focused on developing by-product recovery coke ovens, enhancing the efficiency of coke production. In 1915, it moved its headquarters to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where it remains today. Koppers offers a variety of products and services, including the production of styrene-butadiene monomer, ethylbenzene, and expandable polystyrene, which are essential for synthetic rubber and plastics. In August 2023, Koppers announced a $17 million investment to establish a new manufacturing facility in Louisiana, underscoring its commitment to growth and innovation.
