Highview Power is a UK-based leader in long-duration energy storage, focusing on liquid air energy storage (LAES) technology. This innovative approach captures excess renewable energy by cooling air to a liquid state, allowing for later conversion back to electricity when demand is high. Highview Power's technology enhances the integration of renewable sources like wind and solar, providing reliable and clean power around the clock. Founded over 17 years ago, Highview Power has developed scalable LAES technology and constructed two plants, including a grid-scale demonstration. The company is currently building one of the largest long-duration energy storage facilities in Carrington, Manchester, with a capacity of 300 MWh and a 50 MW output for six hours. This project, supported by a significant investment, is expected to create over 700 jobs and be operational by early 2026.
