Found Energy

Found Energy is a Boston-based cleantech startup dedicated to industrial decarbonization. The company focuses on utilizing the embodied energy of aluminum to replace fossil fuels in heavy industries. Founded by Peter Godart, an MIT Ph.D. and former NASA scientist, and Gadi Ruschin, a supply chain expert, Found Energy employs technology originally developed for space exploration to extract carbon-free energy from aluminum. The company's main innovation is an aluminum-thermal power system that generates carbon-free industrial heat, hydrogen, and alumina trihydrate (ATH) on-site from various aluminum feedstocks. Found Energy targets sectors with high carbon footprints, including aluminum smelting, fertilizer production, and maritime shipping, and has recently secured $12 million in seed funding to advance its mission of promoting sustainable energy.
