Bruce Power
Bruce Power is a Canadian private-sector nuclear power generator established in 2001. It operates the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station near Tiverton, Ontario, which is Canada's only private nuclear generator and produces about 30% of the province's electricity. The company is primarily owned by TC Energy, OMERS, the Power Workers’ Union, and The Society of United Professionals, with many employees also holding ownership stakes. The Bruce Nuclear Generating Station consists of eight CANDU reactors, divided into Bruce A and Bruce B. Since taking operational control in 2001, Bruce Power has refurbished and restarted all four units of Bruce A. The company is committed to a Life-Extension Program involving a $13 billion investment to refurbish six reactors, ensuring their operation through 2064. This initiative supports approximately 22,000 jobs annually and contributes around $4 billion to Ontario's economy. Bruce Power also emphasizes its commitment to Indigenous communities and engages in reconciliation efforts with local groups.
